Please recommend applications that are broadly applicable in the classroom. Try to focus on eductional apps (e.g. iStudiez Pro) rather than just generally good apps that could be used in class (e.g Bento).

iStudiez Pro (and Lite)

Timetable and assignment tracking application. A really fantastic app. Although it's a fraction US- and University-centric, it can definitely be put to good use in senior stage schools too.

Mental Case

Flashcard app that can sync with the Mac to transfer card packs. Has a nice "classroom edition" that makes deployment easier to a class.

Have a look at Educate that I know will have an iPad version in the works. It has heaps of features from timetables to a tracker to importing from Google docs and using a voice recorder in app.

Keep Your Word (http://bambooapps.com/kyw) is another Flashcard app that can sync to the Mac. This one is focused on vocabulary learning.

The best flashcard app I have found is "Flashcard Deluxe". It allows for unique types of memorization techniques like Leitner or Spaced Repetition.

The teacher can make flashcards and hand out a "deck code" that the students type into the app to download the deck of cards. The spaced repetition is based on Supermemo/Anki.

You can include pictures and sounds. A useful example: a spanish teacher can record audio of themselves to help the student with pronunciation of new words.
